Loading Supervision
What Is Loading Supervision
Loading Supervision — also called Container Loading Supervision, or Container Loading Check (C.L.C) — is a pre-shipment service. Our qualified inspector is present at the warehouse, factory or port when your goods are being stuffed into shipping containers.
The inspector verifies that the quantities, core product specifications, and packaging are compliant with your requirements. Inspector starts by check that the shipping container is clean and undamaged. Followed by inventory, quick product inspection, and reviews lashing, dunnage, and bracing available onsite. This prevents costly disputes after the goods have already left port.
Key Focus: Quantity verification, core specifications, packaging condition, labeling accuracy, container cleanliness, weight distribution, and cargo securement — protecting your shipment from dock to destination.
Every Detail Verified Before the Container is Sealed
Our inspectors follow a systematic container loading checklist covering every variable that can cause shipping disputes.
Quantity Verification
Every item is inventoried against the packing list. We flag any shortage or overage before the container is closed.

The importance of Loading Supevision
FCL shipment consolidation
Whether you are new, or a seasoned importer. Making sure that cargo from multiple suppliers are all properly loaded in the same shipping container is critical to generating margins. We make sure that your landed costs don’t skyrocket due to approximate stuffing.
Indsutrial Cargo Loading
Rather than focusing only loading sequence, our QC inspectors also check lashing tension, braces and dunnage. We ensure that loose but heavy parts and wheeled equipment are locked. Last before sealing, we verify that moisture protection is accounted for. This is how we prevent movement, transit damage, mold and and shipping disputes.
E-commerce & Amazon Sellers
Whether you are buying from a new Chinese supplier, or dealing with fragile items, loading supervision prevents receiving discrepancies that affect your seller performance metrics.A quick but efficient inventory and labelling check is beneficial to FBA and e-commerce fulfillment.
Loading Supervision vs. No Supervision
The difference between shipping from China with confidence and discovering discrepancies after your goods have already crossed the ocean.
Without Loading Supervision
-
Shortages discovered only after arrival — costly rework or returns
-
No documentary evidence for supplier disputes
-
Wrong items shipped — customer complaints and chargebacks
-
Transit damage from incorrect loading sequence or poor dunnage
-
Supplier accountability gap — no one to verify at loading
With Loading Supervision
-
Every carton counted against the packing list before container seals
-
Timestamped photo evidence for every claim and negotiation
-
Discrepancies corrected on-site — before the container departs
-
Proper loading sequence and dunnage verified — transit damage prevented
-
Independent third-party verification — full supplier accountability
The Cost of Getting It Wrong
Without professional oversight, loading errors reach you after the goods have already crossed the ocean.

Industry Standards & Inspection Methodology
JS Sourcing’s Loading Supervision inspections are conducted according to internationally recognized quality control standards — giving your QA program credibility and consistency.
ISO 2859-1
The international standard for attribute sampling inspection. Defines sample sizes based on lot quantity and acceptance/rejection numbers. The statistical foundation for all JS Sourcing inspection reports.
ANSI/ASQC Z1.4
The American National Standard for inspection sampling, functionally identical to ISO 2859-1. Preferred by U.S.-based importers requiring ANSI-accredited inspection documentation.
AQL Standards
Common AQL levels used: 0% for critical defects (safety/legal), 1.0% for major defects (function/appearance), 4.0% for minor defects (cosmetic). AQL tables determine sample sizes based on lot quantity.
Client-Specific Criteria
Beyond international standards, JS Sourcing incorporates your company’s own quality specifications, approved sample references, and defect limits into the loading checklist — ensuring the inspection matches your actual standards.
Manufacturing equipment importer from Senegal — bad lashing and bracing corrected in time for shipping
An importer based in Senegal committed us to the Loading Supervision. At arrival we identified high risks for damage (improper packaging and protection). Upon contact with buyer, our inspector negotiated with the warehouse team to add proper lashing, bracings and dunnage. Loading Supervision helped buyer potential save thousands of dollars in repairs just by spending a few hundreds in loading supervision cost.
Improper packing & protection for heavy machinery and parts | No lashing, bracing or dunnage accounted for | 2 wheeled equipement
Loading postponed the time to purchase lashing, blocks and bracings. Smooth negotiation between warehouse and buyer. Inspector checked and documented cargo securement before sealing.
Shipment recieved, 0 damage. Communication was more fluent thanks to swift sharing of photographic evidence.
Inspector found that the factory had not included any lashing, dunnage bag or block to secure the cargo when he arrive at the loading dock.
JS Sourcing shared their concern with Buyer within hours of loading supervision start. Swift negotiation for supplier to bear cost of lashing, dunnage and blocks.
Machinery secured to the container, dunnage bags inserted at key locations to reduce movement and protect equipment. Container sealed and shipped.

Key Terms Explained
Common quality control and shipping terminology used throughout the Loading Supervision inspection process.
Free on Board. A shipping term where the seller is responsible for delivering goods onto the vessel. Title transfers when the goods are on board. The buyer bears cost and risk after loading.
Loose material used to protect cargo in transit. Wooden planks, inflatable bags, or foam placed between cartons to prevent movement, vibration, or crushing during shipping.
Acceptable Quality Limit. The maximum percentage of defective items considered acceptable in a statistical sample. Common AQL levels: 0% for critical, 1.0% for major, 4.0% for minor defects.
Pre-Shipment Inspection. Final quality check when production is 100% complete, before goods are shipped. Uses AQL sampling to verify finished goods against specifications.
During Production Inspection. QC inspection performed when 20-80% of production is complete. Checks semi-finished goods and provides mid-course correction opportunity before production is finalized.
Cubic Meter. A unit of measurement for cargo volume. Used to calculate shipping costs and container loading efficiency. One CBM ≈ 35.3 cubic feet.
Electronic release of cargo at the destination port. Allows the consignee to collect cargo without presenting original bills of lading. Common in FOB transactions where buyers need flexibility in documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is typically conducted before goods are packed — checking production quality on the line or after packing. Loading Supervision is conducted at the point of loading, focused specifically on verifying that the correct goods, in correct quantities, with correct packaging and labeling, are placed into the container. They are complementary services: PSI checks “what was made,” Loading Supervision checks “what was shipped.”
Loading Supervision pricing starts from USD 150 per man-day, all-inclusive (inspector travel, accommodation, and report). The final cost depends on factory location and inspection complexity. Contact us for a tailored quote — no hidden fees.
We recommend booking at least 3 business days in advance to ensure inspector availability. For urgent requests, we can often accommodate bookings within 24-48 hours. Bookings during Chinese national holidays may require additional lead time.
If our inspector identifies a discrepancy — such as quantity shortage, incorrect items, or damaged packaging — they will immediately notify you and your supplier. Loading can be paused until the issue is resolved. The inspection report documents the finding with photographic evidence, supporting any claim with your supplier or insurance company.
Yes. Loading Supervision pairs well with Pre-Shipment Inspection, During Production Inspection (DUPRO), and Lab Testing. We offer combined packages for clients who need multiple verification steps. Ask about our multi-service packages for cost savings on regular shipments.
Standard reports are provided in English. Chinese-language reports are available upon request. For clients in Europe, Asia, or Latin America, we can provide reports with additional context or formatting to meet local documentation requirements.
We cover all provinces in mainland China — Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Anhui, and beyond. Remote provinces may incur a small travel allowance, disclosed in the initial quote. Our head office is in Shenzhen, covering the Pearl River Delta efficiently.
It is strongly recommended for any shipment where you cannot be personally present, especially for first-time orders, high-value goods, or new suppliers. While not legally required, the financial protection it provides — preventing costly disputes after goods have shipped — makes it a best practice for any serious importer sourcing from China.
